I use photography as a form of artistic expression - layering light, nature, and texture to create a painterly image. Scenes come from moments outside, both rural and urban, and mix to create a tapestry of color and texture that many mistake for a painting.
I grew up in the North, reaching out to touch the fall leaves from my father’s shoulders, and kneeling down to smell the lily of the valley petals with my mother. Today, I find myself reaching out to touch grass as I drive by on my way home and seeking lookout spots for our glorious Texas sunsets.
Outside of my nature education, I studied photojournalism at Abilene Christian University before finding my voice studying Fine Art photography during my MFA at the Savannah College of Art and Design
My workday hours are filled teaching the next generation how to use photography to express themselves and their perspective on the world. Nights are enjoyed with family and food, and sometimes a view of the big Texas skies.
